The Ukrainian Parliament’s adoption of bill № 4467 on the extension of the "special status" of Donbas will contribute to the peaceful settlement of the situation in certain districts of Donbas. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG).

"Adoption of the bill as a law will contribute to the peaceful settlement of the situation in separate districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in accordance with political agreements.  In this regard, it is suggested to support the adoption of this bill," the statement said.

It was noted that Russia would have accused Ukraine of disrupting the peace settlement and undermining the negotiation process if the bill had not been passed.

The Ukrainian side believes that such a decision is another step to resolving the situation in the Eastern region of the country.

As we reported earlier, the special order of local self-government in separate districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions will remain until December 31, 2021.

The decision was supported by 304 MPs.
