The counterintelligence of Ukraine's Security Service managed to get an ex-official who served with the government of self-proclaimed 'Donetsk People's Republic'. The press service of the Ukrainian authority reported that on Tuesday afternoon.
In September 2014, the man joined pro-Russian militants in Donetsk; initially, he supplied them with various goods - fertilizers, fuel and lubricant materials, grain and others. Later, leader of the mercenaries of the so-called 'DNR' Aleksandr Zakharchenko offered him to chair the 'Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food'.
'The malefactor shaped the staff and provided due operation of the self-proclaimed authority. Among other actions, he also contributed to bringing a Russian 'humanitarian convoy' to the occupied area of Donbas', the SBU press service reported.
The Ukrainian authority marked that due to an internal conflict with Zakharchenko, the 'minister' was charged with large-scale embezzlement and power abuse.
As the man ended up on the Ukraine-controlled territory, he agreed to cooperate with the investigation authorities. He testifies, providing useful information about the activities of Russian militants in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Russia's direct involvement in the occupation of the said areas, damaging infrastructure and agricultural objects there, as well as other crimes of Russian occupant forces against the national and public security.
