Ukrainian consuls were unable on Wednesday to obtain a permission from Russian authorities to visit Pavlo Gryb, who was abducted in Belarus and illegally detained in the Krasnodar prison. This was reported by the press secretary of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry Mariana Betsa, reports Ukrainian Truth.
Also, attempts to obtain permission to examine a young man by Ukrainian doctors end in vain.
"Our diplomats appealed to the FSB of the Russian Federation in Krasnodar with a request to allow a meeting with Pavlo on September 27. However, no response was received," the diplomat said.
According to Betza, Foreign Ministry did not receive permission to examine the Gryb by Ukrainian doctors. Ukrainian consuls only met with Gryb once, on September 18.
"Maximum that we can do within our levers on the Russian side, we already did. We'll write again to the Russian Foreign Ministry's office in Krasnodar to talk about another meeting with the consul and the permission for examination by Ukrainian doctors. Taking to account his health state, it’s important that Ukrainian doctors could examine Pavlo, and also that he could take the necessary medicines, "the spokeswoman said.
"Gryb was allegedly examined by Russian doctors, but no information was given about what tests he had taken, what they were doing with him, and what conclusions were made by the doctors - most likely this was done to remove the issue of his examination by Ukrainian doctors," Betza said.
Now the Ukrainian consuls have no information about the state of health of Gryb, the conditions of his detention, as well as information about the progress of the investigation into his alleged "involvement" in the terrorist act.
As it was reported earlier 19-years old citizen of Ukraine Pavlo Gryb who disappeared in Gomel, Belarus on August 24 was found in Krasnodar prison, Russia.
His father, the officer of the Border Guard Service of Ukraine Igor Gryb published in Facebook that his son 19-years old Pavlo Gryb got lost in Belarus on August 24. His son went to Gomel to meet a girl with whom he got acquainted and communicated in the social networks.
He supposed that 'the Russian FSB lured out Pavlo to Gomel under the pretence of the meeting with a girl and then detained him'.
The lawer said that Gryb was arrested in Russia in absentia. The lawyer of the Ukrainian Andrey Sabinin said he didn’t have any new information on Pavlo Gryb, because he only saw him once, though, he is allowed to see the prisoner.
