‘To me, Minsk agreements are part of some Russia-designed plan, which includes tough diplomatic work by third parties, like France and Germany. It’s a way for Russia to avoid serious consequences of escalation in Donbas, at Ukraine’s expense. The absence of the United States in this diplomatic format is quite favorable for Russia – to them, it’s a good opportunity to drop their respective commitments. And the conflict itself is much deeper than it seems’, Viktor Yushchenko, Ukraine’s ex-president (2005-2010), said in an interview with Day newspaper.
