Ukraine’s Defense Minister speaks of possible exchange of captured Russian intelligence officer

Stepan Poltorak, Ukraine’s Defense Minister, declared a possible exchange of Viktor Ageev, a detained Russian intelligence officer. Currently investigative activities are being performed. The Minister of Defense of Ukraine said that during a press-conference after his speech on the meeting of NATO in Brussels, UNIAN reported.

"Now investigative activities are being performed. After the investigative actions are finished we can speak of the exchange and other actions towards him because of his participation in the terrorist illegal groups on the territory of Ukraine,” the Minister said.

As we reported earlier, Ukrainian military officers neutralized reconnaissance and sabotage enemy group in Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone on June 24, arresting four militants and eliminating another two, who were strongly resisting.

Later it was informed that reconnaissance scout is Viktor Ageev, born in 1995, who was taken prisoner on June 24 in the village Zhelobok of the Slavyanoserbsky area of Luhansk region as a result of clashes between the fighters of 93rd separate mechanized brigade and the so-called "reconnaissance unit of the 4th mechanized brigade of the 2nd army corps" of the self-proclaimed "Luhansk People’s Republic".

Later the mother of the captured Russian denied the announcements of the Russian Defense Ministry about Ageev being fired from the contract military service.
