Ukrainian border guards detected a fishing boat in the waters of the Sea of Azov, 10 miles off the coast. The State Border Guard’s press centre reported that on Monday.

According to the information, the detected vessel did not respond to the warnings of State Border Guard servicemen; a boat group scrambled to intercept the vessel. The inspection group found out it is a fishing boat flying the Russian flag. The boat’s captain explained the Ukrainian inspectors that the vessel’s crew arrived in this area for scientific purpose.

The Ukrainian side reported no violations.

Since January, Ukraine’s maritime security teams have inspected over 450 vessels; at least ten of them were detained.
