Since the beginning of the war in Donbas, Ukraine’s Armed Forces received international technical and humanitarian help for 247 million. This was stated by the Deputy Defense Minister Major General Oleh Shevchuk in his interview for Uryadovy Kuryer.
“During these four years, the Armed Forces in the frameworks of international technical and humanitarian help, received funds for almost 247 million dollars,” he noted.
According to Shevchuk, Ukraine got radar stations for counterbattery fighting of various types, unmanned aerial vehicles, cars based on HMMWV and Toyota Land Cruiser, Harris Falcon III radios, night vision devices, EMEDS field hospital, clothing, food, medical and other equipment.
Shevchuk stressed that partner countries considerably help to develop military infrastructure in Ukraine. It goes for creating training centers for preparing units of International Peacekeeping and Security Centre, special operations forces, Navy’s maritime operations Center, development of logistics information system.
"Foreign specialists are helping to reform the logistics and standardization systems of our Armed Forces. The expected budget of this trust fund of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is 4.1 million euros. The contributing countries are Belgium, Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey and Czech Republic," Shevchuk said.
He also reminded that Ukraine’s Defense Ministry and NATO signed an agreement on support for Ukraine under the Ukraine-NATO program, and assisting Ukraine in logistics and standardization.
As it was reported earlier Ukrainian army became the most effective in Europe during last three years. Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine claimed this at the Ukrainian breakfast in Davos.
‘I want to remind that we make these steps during the Russian aggression. The biggest part of our GDP goes to the defense sphere, dozens of thousands of the Ukrainians suffered from this. And we protect the freedom and democracy for Europe, for the whole world, stopping the Russian aggression to not allow it move further. We became one of the most effective armies in Europe during last three years, but our army was in very poor condition before’, he said.
