The Armed Forces of Ukraine put into service the radio-hydroacoustic Yatran system. The new device is supposed to detect the enemy ships and submarines. Minister of Defense Stepan Poltorak signed the decree based on the positive test results. The press service of the Ukroboronprom enteprise reported this.

The Yatran system consists of special hydroacoustic buoys, which are equipped with ultra-acoustic sensors and a digital information-processing center. The system collects information from many hydroacoustic buoys. In addition, they work in a passive mode and thus are are invisible to the enemy; and they can fully control the enemy boats.

Among the special functions of the new development, Ukroboronprom outlines the ability to drop hydroacoustic buoys from a helicopter, which allows creating a network of sensors for a minimum period and to understand the map of the location of the enemy’s ships clearly.

The press service reports that this system was already used in several international drills of the Sea Breeze in 2018, where it proved its high characteristics. It increases by several times the combat effectiveness of the antisubmarine defense of the Ukrainian Navy.
