Ukraine to demand holding UN Security Council emergency meeting if shelling in Avdiivka continues

Ukraine intends to advocate for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UN) in the case of non-terminated shelling of Avdiivka, Donetsk region by Russia-backed militants. This was stated by the representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko on his page on Twitter.

“Will follow through the night, if it won't stop, ready to convene UN Security Council emergency meeting”, reads the message.

 


Earlier it was reported that Yelchenko sent a letter to UN Secretary General António Guterres in connection with the worsening situation in Avdiivka area. In particular, the document expressed the demand of the ceasefire in the eastern Ukraine from the Russian Federation.
