The General Prosecutor's Office submitted the information on the gathered proofs of the military crimes (including the murder of the Ukrainian militaries in Ilovaisk region) to the Office of the International Criminal Court. The press service of the General Prosecutor's Office reported this.

More than 800 Ukrainian militaries and other people were questioned during the investigation in 2016-2017 about their acknowledgment with the circumstances of the Ilovaisk tragedy and other crimes made by the Armed Forces of Russia.

The investigators and the experts confiscated, processed and analyzed more than 250 volumes of the documents with dissemination limiting mark from the Administration of the President, the Government of Ukraine, Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the General Staff of Ukraine and other highest central executive bodies, law enforcements and intelligence bodies.

According to the investigation's results, 55 people, including 32 citizens of Russia were brought to the responsibility due to the holding of the aggressive war against Ukraine and other crimes. 32 crime bills towards 33 people were submitted to the court. 22 people, including 8 Russians are imprisoned.

The General Prosecutor's Office submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine the evidences of the holding of the aggressive war by Russia against Ukraine to use them in the ICC and European Court of Human Rights at the lawsuits against Russia.

Also, the General Prosecutor's Office finished the investigation of the circumstances of the Ilovaisk tragedy in the zone of the armed Donbas Conflict in 2014.

The Ukrainian militaries controlled the major part of Ilovaisk on August 18, 2014. But they were enveloped after the invasion of the Russian troops on August 23-24. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin appealed to the Russia-backed militants to make the humanitarian corridor for the Ukrainian troops on August 29. The Ukrainian militaries began to leave the city on August 30 but the militants shot them. According to the Ministry of Defense, 108 Ukrainian soldiers died and more than 100 were injured and captivated. According to the Military Attorney, 366 militaries died and 429 were injured.

The General Staff reported that this operation was not the breakthrough from the entrapment but the withdrawal under the guarantees of Russia.

The Special Service of Ukraine served the Head of the General Staff of Russia Valery Gerasimov and ten soldiers with charge papers. Also, Gerasimov is called to be the ideologist of the Russian invasion to Ukraine.

Russia denies the presence of its troops in the zone of armed Donbas Conflict.
