The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine spotted the use of the forbidden laser weapons of the special purpose by the pro-Russian militants at the checkpoint Mariinka, Donetsk region as the press service reported.

‘A few days ago one of the border guards was blinded by the laser during the performing of the service at the checkpoint Mariinka and performing the observing of the territory through the optical instruments. It was used from the side of the temporarily occupied territory’, the message said.

The border guard got the failure of the organ of vision – burn of the retina.

‘The determined medical diagnosis and the nature of the failure allow to make a conclusion on the possible use of the high power light emitters, the so-called blinded lasers, by the enemy’, the State Border Guard Service claimed.

At the moment, the soldier is hospitalized to the Chief Military Medical Clinical Center of the State Border Guard Service for the specialized treatment.

The Border Guard Service reminded that it already spotted the similar cases. Particularly, in July 2016, three soldiers of Kramatorsk border unit got the same failure of the bodies of the vision. They observed the militants, using the optical instruments.

The information on the possible use of the laser weapons by the enemy delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the representatives of the international and human rights organizations.
