The Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on peaceful settlement of the Donbas Conflict considers the actions of the militants, who block the work of the OSCE mission in Donbas, as a systemic undermining of the mission's powers as RBK-Ukraine reported citing Speaker of the Ukrainian delegation Oleksiy Arestovych.
“For two days, their bases (OSCE, - 112.international) in Donetsk and Horlivka were blocked. Yesterday they tried to leave, but they were not allowed. The Ukrainian delegation considers these actions as a systemic undermining of the mission's powers," Arestovych said.
According to him, in conjunction with the non-extension of the mandate of the OSCE mission at the Russian border checkpoints "Donetsk" and "Gukovo", these actions of the Russian Federation in the TCG are considered as a consistent and conscious policy aimed at ousting the OSCE from the occupied territories, which is a gross undermining of the security system in Europe.
As we reported, the Organization for Security and Cooperation on Europe suspended its monitoring mission in eastern Ukraine following protests near its headquarters in separatist-controlled Donetsk. About 200 pro-Russian protesters confronted OSCE monitors on Saturday to demand the release of a rebel officer captured by the Ukrainian military last week.
However, the OSCE continues its monitoring mission in the part of the Luhansk region not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, despite the termination of work in occupied Donetsk.
