The problem of exchanging hostages in Donbas was brought on at yesterday’s round of Normandy talks. Ukrainian side has clearly made it a priority in the whole process; Iryna Gerashchenko, the MP and Ukraine’s envoy in the humanitarian subgroup of Minsk contact group, posted that at Facebook on May 31.

‘Ukraine’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko told his colleagues about the verification process and stressed that the Ukrainian side is ready to confirm the lists of persons to be exchanged, as well as the date of release of hostages. Now, it’s up to the other side, if they are ready,’ Gerashchenko posted.

Currently, over a hundred Ukrainian citizens remain in captivity of Russia-backed militants, as Geraschenko herself confirmed earlier.
