Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine and Ambassador Yaşar Halit Çevik stated that the mechanism of anti-mine activity and draft document on mine clearance of 19 new areas at the demarcation line preliminary agreed during the Paris summit are ready as the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group reported on Facebook.
Minister for the Reintegration of the Occupied Territories Oleksiy Reznikov offered on the eve of the Easter holidays to hold two steps together:
- To start a process of ‘humanitarian mine clearance’, particularly: mine clearance of areas, where cemeteries, infrastructure objects (water, gas and electricity supply), where the regulation and other kinds of work are held regularly;
- To unblock the work of Shchastya and Zolote checkpoints.
The Ukrainian side expects proper decisions from the Russian delegation.
The next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group is planned for March 31.
On December 9, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready for the new stage of the disengagement of forces; mine clearance and prisoner swap in Donbas.
Later, it was reported that from January 30 until February 5, Ukrainian sappers cleared almost 34 hectares of the territory in Donbas.
