Ukraine has been supporting the idea to return Russian officers to the line-up of the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination. Oleksiy Reznikov, the Vice Prime Minister and Minister for re-integration of temporarily occupied areas, said so in his commentary for Hromadske.

"We hope that the work of the JCCC and Russian military officers will return to its line-up, because the experience of other armed conflicts shows that the mechanism works", Reznikov said.

The official believes that this would be instrumental to reach the stable ceasefire and de-escalation of the conflict. Though Russia does not mind, it still pushes forward its own demands. The sides are discussing these conditions.

In September 2019, the Ukrainian side already offered Russian officers to get back to this group. They left the JCCC in December 2017, claiming this was due to serious difficulties that they faced due to the position of Ukrainian government.
