There's a rumor that Ukraine badly lacks oxygen used in the treatment of Covid-19, specifically in the artificial lung ventilators - and that there are only two or three companies that actually produce and supply medical oxygen to hospitals. Minister of Healthcare Maksym Stepanov denies this information.

During the briefing on Friday, the official claimed that there are actually 16 manufacturing companies that own respective licenses to supply the medical oxygen. Moreover, the Ministry is interested in the growing number of companies that produce and supply this particular kind of oxygen.

Stepanov also claimed that some Ukrainian "experts" offer to entirely remove the definition of medical oxygen and allow the use of technical oxygen instead. "That's never going to happen because medical and technical oxygen are different. Medical oxygen is a drug used for treatment of people, and it 's supposed to meet certain standards. If we use tenchical oxygen, that could de dangerous for human lives. Moreover, technical oxygen is explosive and, thus, dangerous", the Minister concluded.
