The Ukrainian side fights for which prisoners from 74 people will be on the list for the exchange. Iryna Gerashchenko, the representative of the humanitarian subgroup in the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas claimed this at the parliament as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.
‘What is the serious problem? Firstly, Ukraine fights for people that will be on this list made of 74 people. It is important. I will not reveal more but all of you read between the lines. Secondly, is there is a chance that it will be wrecked? We are in the final straight and we are ready. The chance is too high. I would like to talk about this honestly’, Gerashchenko said.
She emphasized that it is known about the location of 95 Ukrainian in the occupied territories.
‘We made a very difficult step when we agreed that we will transfer 306 people to release 74 our heroes that are at the occupied territories. It is a problem when we talk about 74 people and we know that there are ten women there. We will be forced to explain the relative that there will be also the second stage and it is a difficult story’, she said.
According to Gerashchenko, it is necessary to delay the consideration of the draft law on the reintegration of Donbas until the exchange of the prisoners to not influence this process.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin promised to discuss the issue of exchanging Donbas detainees with the commanders of the Russia-backed militants in Donbas on November 15. It is noted that it was pro-Russian Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk who addressed President Putin on the issue.
As we reported Iryna Gerashchenko, the First Vice Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament claimed that The number of Ukrainian citizens illegally held in detention by Donbas militants has grown, and currently, it’s 162. Also, she announced the large-scale exchange by the New Year. 74 Ukrainians are to be exchanged for 306 detained members of Donbas-based illegal armed gangs.
Later Gerashchenko reported that the humanitarian subgroup on releasing the detainees and captured held a video-conference, during which it turned out that Russia added new people into the lists for the exchange, so the process is under threat of jeopardy.
