Ukrainian side called on the Russian Federation and the representatives of Donbas occupations forces to observe the ceasefire in the Donbas. This was reported on Wednesday in Facebook by the press secretary of the second president of Ukraine, country’s representative in the Trilateral Contact Group Darka Olifer.
"Following the results of the Skype meeting of the subgroup on security, the Ukrainian side called on the Russian Federation and the Donbas occupations forces to comply with their obligations to observe the ceasefire," the report said.
According to Olifer, civilians suffer in Donbas because of the shelling. In particular, she noted that the main objective of the “school” truce - the safety of children during the school year - is under threat of disruption.
"In addition, we demanded that every case of violation of the cease-fire regime by Donbas occupations forces was investigated, and the perpetrators - publicly punished," Kuchma's press secretary added.
As it was reported earlier number of attacks in Donbas during “school truce” at record low since 2015, according to TCG. From August 28 to September 3, 2017 the smallest amount of attacks was recorded.
Ukrainian side has been advocating for bringing the UN peacekeeping mission to all militant-controlled territories, including the Ukrainian-Russian border, since 2015.
According to Olifer, the ceasefire is an essential condition for continuing comprehensive implementation of the Minsk agreements, including humanitarian, political, social, and economic issues.
