On Monday, February 8, two civilians tried to break through a checkpoint near the settlement of Viktorivka (Donetsk region) by a car. Ukrainian servicemen opened fire and ended up killing the driver. This was reported by the press service of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) on Facebook.
"A civilian car VAZ 2105 with two people in it approached the checkpoint of the mechanized battalion near the settlement of Viktorivka, Donetsk region. The driver did not respond to the request to stop and, on the contrary, increased his speed. The soldier fired a warning shot up in the air, but the car continued to move in the direction of the Russian armed formations. Given all the circumstances, the serviceman opened deadly fire," the statement said.
As a result of several shots, the driver and passenger of the car were injured. Unfortunately, the driver died on the way to the hospital.
As we reported earlier, Leonid Kravchuk, the head of the Ukrainian delegation in the Minsk contact group and the first president of Ukraine, stated that Ukrainian forces should be firing back when they are getting shot at.
