Since the beginning of July 30, Russian militants landed two attacks on positions of Ukrainian forces in Donbas. Both of the skirmishes took place in Luhansk region, Ukraine's Defense Ministry reported.
The enemy opened fire near Novotoshkivske, using underbarrel grenade launcher and small arms. The mercenaries also breached the ceasefire near Orikhove, using small arms.
The Ukrainian troops did not return fire; the Defense Ministry stated there was no direct immediate threat to their lives.
According to the Ministry, there have been no casualties among the government forces since the ceasefire was announced on July 27.
Recently, yhe first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk agreed to head the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas. This was reported by the press service of the President's Office.
“Naturally, I thought about it. But when I actually understood what is happening there, in Donbas, when our young boys and girls die there, defending the land, shedding blood, day and night defending the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine, despite the fact that I have already seen something in my life, gone through some things, it would be fine to have a rest - but the time for rest has not come yet. I have made a decision. If I can - and I want it - to do something to step up peace in Donbas, I will do it until my last breath,” Kravchuk said.
