Trilateral Contact Group confirms commitment to complete and termless ceasefire on Donbas starting from 00:01 am on March 5. This is noted in TCG’s announcement on March 2, which was made public by the press-office of Martin Sajdik, OSCE special representative, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“The Trilateral Contact Group along with the representatives of separated districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions stresses the importance of peacekeeping for the population in conflict zone in Eastern Ukraine and guided by previously reached agreements confirms its complete commitment to overall, stable and termless ceasefire starting from 00:01 am Kyiv time on March 5, 2018,” noted in TCG’s message.
Besides that, the Trilateral Contact Group emphasizes the importance of adoption and abidance of ceasefire orders; effective appliance of disciplinary measures to violations of ceasefire order; non-application of fire, including return fire; avoidance of offensive actions and intelligence operations.
The announcement also stresses the significance of severe prohibition of firing in directions of inhabited localities and from them, of setting and using heavy weapons in inhabited localities and nearby, of intentional shooting of civilian infrastructure, including schools, kindergartens, hospitals and public areas.
“The Trilateral Contact Group declares its general and firm commitment to fulfilment of Minsk Agreements,” the message says.
As we reported earlier, last ceasefire in the Donbas conflict zone came into effect on midnight on December 23. The sides agreed on this during the Trilateral Contact Group session in Minsk on December 20. The parties confirmed their commitment to Minsk Agreement. Later it was reported that the militants continued violation the ceasefire by firing Ukrainian positions.
