Trilateral Contact Group agrees on another truce in Donbas

The Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on settlement of the situation in Donbas has agreed on a complete ceasefire on the line of demarcation in the conflict zone for the time of Easter holidays starting on March 30. This was stated by the TCG on the OSCE website.

“The Trilateral Contact Group, with the participation of the representatives of certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, acknowledging the positive impact of the recommitment to ceasefire re-affirm their full commitment to a comprehensive, sustainable and unlimited ceasefire, starting from 30 March 2018 at 00 hrs. 01 min. (Kyiv time)," the statement said.

As it was reported earlier, the Trilateral Contact Group confirmed commitment to complete and termless ceasefire on Donbas starting from 00:01 am on March 5. This is noted in TCG’s announcement on March 2, which was made public by the press-office of Martin Sajdik, OSCE special representative.

Besides that, the Trilateral Contact Group emphasizes the importance of adoption and abidance of ceasefire orders; effective appliance of disciplinary measures to violations of ceasefire order; non-application of fire, including return fire; avoidance of offensive actions and intelligence operations.

The announcement also stresses the significance of severe prohibition of firing in directions of inhabited localities and from them, of setting and using heavy weapons in inhabited localities and nearby, of intentional shooting of civilian infrastructure, including schools, kindergartens, hospitals and public areas.
