US Special Representative Kurt Volker states that the situation in the east of Ukraine is at the stage of a hot war, not a frozen conflict. As reported by the press center of the Donbas conflict headquarters, a spokesman for the US State Department on Ukraine stated this by visiting Avdiivka.
"During the visit to the area of Donbas conflict in the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, an official delegation of the US State Department headed by the special representative of the US State Department on Ukraine Kurt Volker visited the front-line Avdiivka, where they met with military, representatives of the military civil administration and the affected residents of the town", noted the headquarters.
"I came here personally to get acquainted with the details of these events, I can say that this is a terrible tragedy, because we know that Ukraine is a prosperous state," Kurt Volker said.
According to Volker, he heard on the tragedy of people, saw the destruction.
"Our main task is to restore the integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. As I understand, this is not a frozen conflict, but a hot war, and the price is dangerously high - it's human lives," the US special envoy added.
Representatives of the delegation visited the renovated school and Avdiivka Coke Chemical Plant.
According to Kurt Volker, after his visit to Ukraine, he plans to hold a series of meetings with representatives of European governments in order to consolidate his position on the situation in the Donbas conflict zone with our allies.
