It is unknown what consequences there will be after Vladislav Surkov’s withdrawal from the process of negotiations on Ukraine, since he was not authorized to make any concessions and only imitated the negotiations. Penn Biden Center's senior director, former assistant to the head of the Pentagon Michael Carpenter said this on Monday, reports Ukrinform.

“I wouldn’t say that Surkov was authorized to take any actions in the talks with Kurt Volker, so I'm not sure what that really means for Ukraine. Surkov was never able to order the FSB or the GRU how to act in the Donbas area, so he just faked the negotiations,” the expert said.

He referred to the correspondent of the National Public Radio in Moscow Luchian Kim, who drew attention to the statement of the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin that "Russia and the United States took a pause in contacts on Ukraine."

At the same time, according to Russian media, Vladislav Surkov might leave the post of the Russian president aide on Ukrainian issues, following the reshuffle in the government of Russian Federation.
