As of the morning of November 13, 60% of the capacities of the state-owned Centrenergo thermal power plants are not working due to the lack of coal, according to the data of Ukrenergo company.

Due to the lack of coal, 14 power units do not work. Another 6 are at various stages of equipment repair. The load is carried by only 3 blocks out of 23 state-owned thermal power plants, which is 10% of their capacity.

Each of the three state-owned TPPs has one power unit in operation.

At the same time, only four power units do not operate at private TPPs due to a lack of coal. Half of the units  are located at the Lugansk TPP, which has been switched to economy mode due to the blockade of coal supplies from Russia (the only coal supply route to this TPP is through the territory of the Russian Federation).

Earlier, Ukrenergo announced a critical situation with coal reserves at TPP warehouses.

In particular, since the beginning of November 2020, as of January 18, 2021, coal reserves at TPPs (of all grades) have decreased 5.2 times, to 487.5 thousand tons, of which gas coal decreased 7.5 times, to 283.6 thousand tons, anthracite reserves decreased by 44.4%, up to 203.9 thousand tons.
