Representatives of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) stated that the exchange of prisoners between Kyiv and some districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions was not going to take place by the end of 2020. This opinion was expressed by the DNR’s ombudsman Darya Morozova, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"Ukraine did not want and does not want to hold this exchange by the end of the year. I do not see any preconditions for the exchange to take place at this moment. It is unlikely to happen, and, in my personal opinion, it is impossible to hold an exchange even by the end of this year," Morozova said.
According to her, the Ukrainian side still needs to close all criminal proceedings against persons released earlier and stop their persecution.
As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine had proved its interest in achieving peace in Donbas to the world community.
He also stressed Ukraine's readiness for a new stage of troops' disengagement, demining of new areas, as well as for the next round of mutual release of detainees.
