The situation in the Donbas Conflict zone might deteriorate at any moment. It depends on the authorities of the Russian Federation as Focus reported, citing Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov.
Danilov noted that currently, the decision of the Council on Donbas is being prepared, because after December 9, 2020, the plan A ends – the solution of Donbas Conflict by the political and diplomatic way.
“It is the decision of the president. On December 7, 2019, the NSDC meeting took place and five scenarios of the development of the situation in Donbas were adopted. I open a little secret: the NSDC decision is prepared on the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” he reported.
In March 2020, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that he would be able to agree with President of Russia Vladimir Putin to stop the war in Donbas. Later, Zelensky noted that he hoped for the possibility to end the war in Donbas in 2020.
However, Vice Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov stated that the war in Donbas would not be stopped in 2020 because it would take time to withdraw the occupation forces from the territory of Donbas.
Besides, Oleksiy Reznikov believes that it is impossible to reintegrate Donbas in just a few years - this process may take up to several decades.
