The situation in the Joint Forces Operation zone in Donbas got worse under the initiative of the militants in 2019. Yet, the Armed Forces of Ukraine has brand new weapons to react to provocations, as Sergiy Nayev, the Joint Forces Commander, said in the interview for Tyzhden magazine.
According to him, today the Armed Forces are successfully implementing the strategy of rearmament of the mechanized and infantry brigades so that each of them could have modern anti-tank missile systems. He stressed that the brand new arms possessed by Ukrainian servicemen are the arguments for early completion of the combat actions.
“Yet it should be noted that the situation in the Joint Forces Operation zone got worse. It happened under the initiative of the enemy, who started the massive use of anti-tank missile systems and mortars since the beginning of 2019. A few days ago the enemy used 2K25 Krasnopol (a Soviet 152/155 mm cannon-launched, artillery weapon system, - ed.) which is being produced in Russia only. The Russian occupants want to destabilize the situation in Joint Forces Operation zone and show their ability to dictate their terms,” the Joint Forces Commander said.
“However, the Joint Forces have brand new arms, anti-tank missile systems, which eliminated the enemy’s targets that posed threat to our soldiers. You could make conclusions about the effectiveness of the Ukrainian weapons: our anti-tank missile systems have performed four launches, four targets were eliminated in the result. So, are these arms effective or not?” he added.
It should be noted that over the past 24 hours the militants performed 13 attacks on the Ukrainian servicemen in Donbas.
