Situation in ATO zone escalates, militants attack 70 times killing two Ukrainian soldiers

Situation in Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone has worsened. Russia-backed occupation forces shelled Ukrainian Armed Forces 70 times over the last 24 hours. Two Ukrainian servicemen were killed, six more were wounded as a result. This was reported by ATO HQ on Facebook.

In Mariupol direction, enemy attacked strongholds in Krasnohorivka using 120 and 82 mm mortars, ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft auto cannons and grenade launchers of various types. 120 and 82 mm mortars, IFV weaponry, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms were used to attack Vodiane. Enemy fired 82 mm mortars, IFV weaponry and heavy machine guns at Hnutove. Pavlopil was attacked from IFV weaponry, anti-tank grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms, while IFV and APC weaponry was fired near Shyrokyne. Heavy machine gun fire was reported at positions near Lebedynske and Starohnativka, while strongholds near Talakivka and Novotroitske were attacked with under-barrel grenade launchers and small arms.

In Donetsk direction, 152 mm artillery, ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft auto cannons, 120 and 82 mm mortars, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns were fired at strongholds near Troitske. Enemy used 120 and 82 mm mortars, grenade launchers of various types and heavy machine guns to attack positions near Avdiivka. Luhanske was attacked with 120 and 82 mm mortars. 120 mm mortars, IFV weaponry, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns were fired at Pisky, while 82 mm mortars, anti-tank grenade launchers and heavy machine guns were used to attack Verkhnyotoretske. Positions near Zaytseve were attacked from anti-tank grenade launchers, enemy snipers were also active in the area.

In Luhansk direction, enemy shelled positions near Novozvanivka with 122 mm artillery, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns. Enemy fired 120 mm mortars, grenade launchers of various types and heavy machine guns at Novooleksandrivka, while Novotoshkivka suffered 82 mm mortars fire. Russia-backed occupation forces shelled strongholds near Orihove, Nyzhnje and Katerynivka using 120 mm mortars. Popasna, Stanytsia Luhanska and Valuyske were attacked from grenade launchers of various types and heavy machine guns, Krymske suffered fire from automatic grenade launchers.

Commanders took decisions regarding adequate fire in response in certain cases when there was danger to lives and heath of military officers.
