Despite the agreement to cease fire for the time of Christmas and New Year holidays, the Russia-backed militants are continuing provoking attacks, using the weapons that are banned by the Minsk agreements, the Ukrainian side of the JCCC informs.

Since midnight on Dec. 23, 39 attacks on the Ukrainian Army in Donbas were reported, with most of the attacks operated in Luhansk sector.

During the week, the militants actively used small arms, heavy machine guns, and grenade launchers along the front line. The activity of enemy snipers has also increased (7 instances).

The Ukrainian side of the JCCC believes the provocations are an attempt to make the Ukrainian soldiers open fire and accuse them of being the ones who disrupted the cease-fire.

The Ukrainian side continues abiding by the Minsk agreements despite the disruptive actions of the pro-Russian terrorist forces.
