Seven people were injured in explosion at the base of police battalion deployment in Mariupol, Donetsk region. All affected people were police representatives, local agency 0629 reports referring to its own sources.

"Shell from grenade launcher exploded. 7 people were wounded in explosion, all policemen. Wounds are serious. 4 people received shrapnel wounds to the limbs, 2 to the chest, a piece also hit one policemen in the head," the message reads.

The injured persons were hospitalized in the neurosurgery of the city hospital #5. Doctors are now fighting for the lives of policemen. Operation and investigation unit continues work at the scene. Circumstances of the occurrence are being established.

It is noteworthy that the shell was already withdrawn from the base and is to be utilized, according to the agency.

Later Vyacheslav Abroskin, head of police in Donetsk region, confirmed the information on his Facebook page. "Seven policemen received injuries of various degrees and are now in hospital," he noted.
