The Senate of Romania, the upper house of the country’s parliament, will consider the option to recognize the 1932-1933 Great Famine in Ukraine as the genocide against the Ukrainian nation. Calin Popescu Tariceanu, the president of the Senate, said this during his meeting with Yevhen Levytsky, Ukraine’s temporary envoy in Romania.
Levytsky, in turn, informed the Romanian official about the ongoing escalation in Donbas and thanked the Romanian parliament for its support of Ukraine in the face of the Russian aggression. He expressed hope that the newly shaped Romanian authority will carry on to support the neighboring country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The meeting of the two diplomats took place to make the 25th anniversary of Ukraine-Romania diplomatic relations.
