The “school truce” in the Donbas conflict zone isn’t fully adopted, but the number of attacks halved, the Ukrainian Army HQ informs on Facebook.

“The first day of the cease-fire wasn’t completely quiet. Overall number of attacks on our positions has fallen by more than a half. The militants didn’t use artillery and mortars. The five attacks recorded since midnight are untargeted and provocative in character,” the message says.

In particular, the terrorists opened fire not far from Zaitseve, Donetsk sector. The attack was short. Apart from that, the Russian mercenaries used grenade launchers and heavy machine guns in Avdiivka industrial zone.

In Mariupol sector, the militants attacked Ukrainian Army strongholds near Vodiane.

Ukrainian Army didn’t fire in response.

One Ukrainian soldier died in an attack by militants, that happened shortly before midnight on August 24.
