Security Service apprehends surviving members of Bergman gang, involved in demolishing bridges in Donbas

Ukraine's SBU (State Security Service) detained all members of the Bergman gang, the group of Russian mercenaries involved in the demolishing of bridges in Donbas. Other criminals from the group are killed SBU's press office reports. 

Operatives and investigators found out that in summer 2014, leaders of the so-called "Army of the Southeast" created a number of sabotage groups. According to their tasks, these groups were supposed to steal weapons from industrial enterprises of the Luhansk region, and to organize arms caches behind the lines of the Ukrainian military, so that other saboteurs could use these weapons.

The most active gang was the one led by Valeriy Bergman, callsign German. It consisted of eight people, mostly the local residents. In three months of 2014, the Bergman group destroyed five bridges and planted charges on another four.

The SBU operatives revealed the caches hidden in the occupied Donbas; the weaponry and explosives were seized.

The State Security Service identified all members of the terrorist group. "We received detailed information and planned the operation in details so that no one avoids punishment. We managed to do it", the SBU claimed.
