Nadiya Savchenko’s key statements at the press conference:

People are tired of war

What is currently happening in Donbas may be a start of very atrocious war. Unfortunately, Minsk peace deals, don’t involve Crimea, they only involve Donbas. I will bring it up at every opportunity. I’m ready to talk to anyone, a friend or an enemy, to return children to their mothers alive and intact

I’m determined to communicate with the electorate as much as possible. This is my first week. I decided to go to the east of Ukraine, considering this territory is currently the most vulnerable. I went to Poltava region, Lokhvytsya, Kharkiv, Limanske, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk. Dmytro Yarosh joined me on my trip to Avdiivka, Shyrokyne, Mariupol and Dnipropetrovsk. What was the purpose of this trip? As an MP, I wanted to find out about what people think of the current state of affairs in Ukraine, I wanted to personally see corruption in the conflict area. I’m resolved to fight corruption in the war zone’

Currently the most urgent issues, which need to be resolved are pensions and utility payments from pensioners. This is what I’m going to deal with in the near future

What did I see on the frontline in Donbas? I saw Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This may be a start of a very atrocious war

There are three platforms for release of Ukrainians from Russian captivity. First platform involves state-state negotiations at the level of presidents. Second platform involves legislative bodies, Ukraine’s Security Service. Third platform involves servicemen, who try to hold negotiations after heavy fights on the frontline. It’s necessary to release Ukrainians at all levels. I have no access to the first platform of negotiations, but I can do something at the second and third levels

Elections cannot be held on territories held by an aggressor. I want Ukrainians to start talking to each other. I’m eager to put in maximum effort so that it can be done without a neighbor or an enemy, which constantly interferes with out affairs

Savchenko on the source of her income:

Back when I was in prison, Canada gave me an award ‘The Light of Justice’. The award amounts to USD 12,000. They were taxed and I received USD 9,600 on my bank account. To be more exact, my sister received them, because I was imprisoned in Russian back then
