President Petro Poroshenko during a meeting with EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides noted that the Russia's recognition of DNR-LNR fake documents requires the strengthening of sanctions. This was reported in the press center of the Ukrainian President.

"We are now witnessing the constant violations of the Minsk agreements, we see not only a violation of the ceasefire, but absolutely cynical decision to recognize fake documents of  fake republics." Poroshenko said.

The President noted that "from the point of view of international law it is an element of recognition of these illegal formations and the de facto denial of the Minsk process, because these actions are incompatible with the implementation of the Minsk agreements. We believe that this is a very worrying phenomenon, and it requires serious actions up to strengthening the sanctions."

European Commissioner Stylianides, in turn, stated that "The European Union fully supports Ukraine and is making substantial diplomatic efforts aimed at full implementation of agreements, which are based on unconditional respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine."
