Russia's Dagestan local resident Firuz Mirzoev will be tried for participation in military operations in the Donbas as a part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The investigation of criminal case against him has already been completed. This was reported by Interfax.
"The investigation found that in summer of 2014, a resident of Dagestan Mirzoev, arrived in Ukraine through Turkey to take part in military operations against the units of the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic" and "Luhansk People's Republic" together with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For 20 days he received $1,000 for this ($ 50 per day), " Russian Investigation Committee in the region told the agency.
According to the law enforcers, Mirzoev were provided uniforms, weapons, ammunition and temporary lodgings at a military camp in Kramatorsk.
"Mirzoev was detained by law enforcement bodies in Tajikistan, and in May of this year he was handed over to Russian authorities," the report said.
The case against Mirzoev will be heard by the court in accordance with Part 3 of Article 359 (participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
As it was reported earlier Security Service of Ukraine has identified 40 Ukrainians who served as part of the Russian private military company Wagner Group in Donbas. Most of them are in territory that Ukraine does not control: they are part of illegal armed formations in Donbas, and also take part in hostilities in Syria.
