A vessel of the Russian Navy tried to capture the boat of Ukraine’s Marine Rescue Service. The incident occurred near Skadovsk (Kherson region, off the coast of the Black Sea) as the Ukrainian vessel performed regular drills in this country’s territorial waters.
The actual incident took place on April 24; however, Ukraine’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure only released this piece of information now.
The Russian ship approached the Ukrainian boat, and the Russian crew demanded that Ukrainian sailors heave aback. The response was negative; the rescue boat’s team pointed out that the boat was in the Ukrainian waters at the time, and headed back to Skadovsk. The incident was over.
‘Our crew acted coldly and confidently, and they will be rewarded for that. Despite the calls from the international society, the Russian military continue to violate Ukrainian borders – in land at sea; but their saber-rattling will not frighten us. The occupied territories will return under the Ukrainian control,’ said Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.
