Russian Viktor Ageev admitted he was sent to participate in a military operation in Donbas; the man who served with the regular Russian army in Donbas and fought against Ukrainian troops there told that to Ukrainian press on Monday.

‘I am a military man. I serve with unit 65246 (the communications regiment and training centre of the Russian Air Force based in Novocherkassk, - 112 International). They just sent me there. I’ve got my salary, and, well, I’m on duty’, he said.

Ageev who used to reside in the Altay territory of Russia was detained in Donbas on June 24. The Ukrainian servicemen passed him to the state security service. According to him, at first he was enlisted in the Altay territory; then, he signed a contract with the army and was sent to Donbas to fight alongside pro-Kremlin militants.

Learning about his capture, the Russian defense ministry denied Ageev’s membership in the Armed Forces. The soldier’s mother, however, said he never left active service.
