Representatives of the OSCE SMM are being purposefully prevented from working in Donbas. The militants of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic were even given special instructions on how to restrict the movement of patrols. Radio Svoboda reported this.
"It is a question of purposeful restriction of work of mission by illegal groups of Luhansk-Donetsk People’s Republic. The Donbas. Realities received official correspondence from the so-called Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Luhansk People’s Republic and fake Donetsk People’s Republic’s missions from their own sources. These documents refer to a memo on the procedure for communicating with OSCE SMM representatives," the statement reads.
It is noted that the backed separatist forces at checkpoints, landfills were given clear instructions - the patrol should not be allowed to the road on uncoordinated routes under any circumstances. The Novoazovsk district is indicated separately in the instruction booklet. According to the documents, it is strictly forbidden to let observers there due to the closed regime facilities.
The publication reports that despite work restrictions, the SMM captures Russian military equipment in eastern Ukraine using drones. So, on May 29, in Novoazovsk controlled by backed separatist forces, the OSCE drone fixed the Russian complex of electronic warfare SB-636 "Light-KU". It was also possible to identify about 10 landfills and bases for storing equipment of illegal groups of Luhansk-Donetsk People’s Republic. In particular, landfills were found in the area of Alchevsk and Khrustalny (formerly Krasny Luch), Debaltseve, Horlivka and several small settlements.
As it was reported earlier, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ann Linde stated that the conflict in Donbas is one of the largest threats to European security.
