Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov also expects Ukrainian authorities to abide by ceasefire agreement

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov hopes that the situation in Ukraine will change after the government establishes contact with the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Ryabkov stated on Monday following the results of the Russian-American consultations on security guarantees, TASS reports.

"The first is that the government in Kyiv will start meaningful work on cooperation with people from Donetsk and Luhansk, on the implementation of the Minsk agreements," the Russian diplomat said.

He also expects the Ukrainian authorities to abide by the ceasefire agreement reached a few days before the New Year.

At the same time, Ryabkov accused the Armed Forces of provocations, due to which the truce did not last long.

As we reported earlier, chairman of the Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life party and MP Viktor Medvedchuk declared in an interview to UkrLive TV channel that the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has to negotiate not only with Russia, but also with Donetsk and Luhansk for the restoration of peace in Donbas.

In addition, MP from Servants of the People political party Serhiy Demchenko also believes that the Ukrainian authorities should hold direct talks with representatives of certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
