As a result of Russia's invasion in Crimea and Donbas, more than 13,000 were killed, another 30,000 were injured. This was stated by Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Yuri Vitrenko, the press service of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations reports.
"Because of Russia’s invasion in Crimea and eastern Ukraine over 13000 people were killed and almost 30000 wounded. At least half a million residents of Ukraine became internally displaced," reads the message.
The official also reminded the Russian delegation that imprudent attempts of Russia to take control of the nuclear facilities and materials located in the Crimean peninsula contravened international law and the IAEA Statute.
As we reported earlier, according to a poll that was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, 56.6% of Ukrainian citizens believe that Ukraine will achieve peace and normalization of relations with Russia in the future.
In turn, only 30% of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine and Russia will have tense/conflicting relations in the future.
