At the meeting of the Humanitarian Subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group, Russian representatives refused to provide the Ukrainian side and OSCE with information on sending the investigators to Donbas to work on Zakharchenko’s murder, which violated the laws of both states. Iryna Gerashchenko, First Vice-Spokesperson of the Verkhovna Rada, wrote it on her Facebook page.
“The Ukrainian side demanded Russia to immediately give full information concerning the facts and statements which appeared in media that Russian side sent some investigators to the occupied Donbas to work on the murder of the militants’ head,” Gerashchenko wrote.
She noted that such actions are a serious violation of the Ukrainian legislation as only Ukraine’s investigation bodies are allowed to work on the territory of Ukraine or other ones with the permission of the relevant agencies. Yet, Kyiv did not give any permissions.
Gerashchenko also noted that it is a violation of the Russian Criminal Code, which says that the investigation bodies can work only on the territory of Russian Federation.
“Russians have categorically refused to provide OSCE and Ukraine with any information about this investigation. Moreover, the OSCE SMM reports recorded that Russians also refused to show the bodies of the militants who suffered in the explosion and did not let see the victims on the hospitals. Again, this demonstrates that Russia clears the sidekicks,” Gerashchenko wrote.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side of the Trilateral Contact Group stated that today, the so-called ORDLO (Separated Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions, -ed.) representatives tried to “play a cheap vaudeville and carry out a provocation with the “moment of silence” for the terrorist”.
Reportedly, on August 31, as a result of the explosion in the restaurant in the downtown of Donetsk, head of so-called “DNR” Aleksandr Zakharchenko died. The Russian mass media reported that Oleksandr Timofeyev, so-called "minister of revenue and duties" of so-called "DNR" has also died. The so-called “law enforcers” of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic stated that they detained “Ukrainian saboteurs” who are presumably involved in the assassination of Zakharchenko. Although, SBU hasn’t approved the information.
ORDO, Separate district of Donetsk region, suspects one of the guards of Zakharchenko in his death. At the same time, the Russian MFA accused "Kyiv regime" in the death of Zakharchenko. It was reported on the closure of all crossing checkpoints along the Inter-Entity Boundary Line because of the incident. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences over the murder of Zakharchenko.
