Russia does not need Crimea at all as a place for Russians to relax, but as a Russian base, which should intimidate all of Europe and North Africa and give Russia the opportunity to dominate the Mediterranean Sea already. Ruslan Khomchak, the head of General Staff of Armed Forces, said in an interview with Ukrinform.

“Crimea is Ukraine, and in no case should we forget about it. We can return Crimea only together if you (the West) help us and if your businessmen don’t go there,” he stressed.

Khomchak has also noted that now Russia is trying to pose the entire Black Sea basin "almost like Russian internal waters, and neither Ukraine nor its partners would turn a blind eye to this."

"Of course, there is Turkey that would not allow this, no matter how Russia would like to get closer to them. There are NATO countries - Romania and Bulgaria. We just had a conversation with the Romanian head of staff, he fully supports cooperation with us. Therefore, the Black Sea will soon be a region where various forces will test their forces and their patience," Khomchak said.

As we reported, the British agency ‘The Economist’ published a video showing the map of Ukraine without Crimea.
