Russian Federation extracted billions of cubic meters of gas from Ukrainian gas fields on the shelf of the Black Sea during the annexation. This was reported by the director of Chornomornaftogaz Svitlaana Nezhnova, according to Crimea.Realities agency.
“Odesa field is the largest one, put into operation in 2011-2012. And the greatest amount of gas is currently extracted and supplied to the Crimea from it. In fact, illegitimate authorities of the Crimea, that is, the Russian Federation, extracted a billion and 117 million cubic meters of gas from the field in 2014. 980 million cubic meters were taken in 2015, and 880 million - in 2016,” said Nezhnova.
Drilling rigs, fleet and other assets of the Ukrainian state-owned company Chornomornaftogaz were captured during the annexation of the Crimea by Russia in 2014. After that, Naftogaz of Ukraine lost control of this Crimean enterprise. Later Chornomornaftogaz was recreated on the mainland of Ukraine.
In December 2015, the press service of the seized Crimean Chornomornaftogaz reported that two modern drilling rigs V-312 and V-319 worth more than 430 million dollars were moved from the Odesa gas field to Crimea "due to complicated international situation and the risk of loss of vital assets."
Security Service of Ukraine sent proposals to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the Chornomornaftogaz enterprise “nationalized” by the Russian authorities in Crimea, which moved these installations to introduce appropriate sanctions. Also in the SBU noted that to protect national interests Ukraine filed an international lawsuit to the Stockholm arbitration.
Earlier it was reported that Russian Gazprom has raised the amount of the money claim to Ukrainian Naftogaz in Stockholm court to 37 million dollars. This was stated in the financial accounting of the Gazprom.
