The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA) claimed, that the Russian Federation did not allow to see the illegally detained in Russia Ukrainian Pavlo Gryb by the Ukrainian Consul. The press-service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reports this.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine critically protests against the Russian denial to the Ukrainian Consul meet the illegally kept in Russia Ukrainian citizen Pavlo Gryb,” as said in the report.
Ukrainian MFA regards such actions of the Russian authorities as violations of the international duties they have to abide, including the Article 13 of the Consular Convention between Ukraine and Russia.
The Ministry believes that Russia decided to act so deliberately in order to hide the real health condition of Gryb.
As we reported earlier, Pavlo Gryb is the son of the former Ukrainian border guard Ihor Gryb. The Russian special service detained the 19-year-old boy on August 25, 2017, when he went to Gomel (Belarus) to meet his friend. Later, he was convoyed to Russia. The Russian law enforcers suspect Pavlo Gryb of preparing a terrorist attack at a school in Sochi (a city in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, located on the Black Sea coast, - 112 International).
Russia did not provide the European Court of Human Rights with information about the Ukrainian political prisoner Pavlo Gryb's health status.
The condition of political prisoner is deteriorating. Gryb, who turned 20 behind bars, suffers from portal hypertension, cirrhosis of the liver and has lost most of his vision, his lawyer Maryna Dubrovina claimed this.
