One of SAM regiments of Russia’s armed forces, stationed in the occupied Crimea, has been armed with S-400 (‘Triumph’) missile launcher. Viktor Sevostyanov, the commander of the 4th army of Russia’s Southern military district, said this as quoted by RBC-Ukraine.

The staff is reported to have completed training and is ready to maintain airborne alert – already this month. According to Sevostyanov, such missile launchers, when brought to Crimea, cover the area of hundreds of kilometers and significantly add to southern Russia’s anti-aircraft defense system.

S-400 missile launchers are designed to destroy aircraft, cruise missiles and other means of aerial or space attacks.

Previously, on December 1 and 2, the Ukrainian army held military drills in Kherson region, southern Ukraine, not far from the occupied Crimea. This evoked Kremlin's outrage and even threats to land an airstrike on Kyiv but led to no serious consequences.
