The Russia-backed militants fired at the entry-exit checkpoint Mariinka in Donetsk region. As a result of the attack, one worker of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service was wounded in Donbas combat zone. Oleg Slobodyan, the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stated this.
“One more shelling of Mariinka checkpoint happened. Approximately at 2:00 PM, the shift chief at the zero entry-exit checkpoint of Mariinka was wounded because of the shelling with the sniper rifle from the temporarily occupied territories. The health condition of the injured serviceman is satisfactory. He was provided with first medical aid and then hospitalized. The pass of persons and vehicles through the checkpoint Mariinka is temporarily suspended by the decision of the Joint Forces operation HQ,” Slobodyan wrote on Facebook.
According to the report, dozens of civilians, including children, were at the checkpoint during the attack. The enemy opened fire six times.
Another militant was taken prisoner in Joint Forces Operation zone, as the press office of JFO reported on Facebook.
It was reported that at around 1 a.m. the enemy’s intelligence cell tried to circumvent the Ukrainian positions in Donetsk sector. Yet, the soldiers of the Joint Forces Operation have reacted in time and started a battle. Then, the illegal armed formations retreated and the Ukrainian military captured militants.
