The management of Rivne nuclear power plant (NPP) decided to shut down the No.1 unit. It is due to the recent emergency shutdown, which is why it needs maintenance, state-run company Energoatom reported.
The shutdown will take place December 29, with the reparation works to last 63 days, according to the schedule. The reactor and other vital elements of the plant will be repaired fundamentally.
A number of measures will be implemented to revise the Program of Aging Management.
Rivne NPP is stationed in Varash town, northern Ukraine; it uses four power units with the summary output of 2,835 MWt.
Currently, 12 of 15 power units are working across Ukraine; another three are being fixed. These are the third and the sixth power units of Zaporizhya NPP and No.1 unit of Khmelnytsky NPP.
