Gennadiy Zubko the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Regional Development, Construction and Housing made a working trip to Balakliia, Kharkiv Region on May 19. His aim was to check the quality of the area cleanup operations from the ammunition as the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reports.
‘The Deputy Prime Minister, Mykola Chechotkin the Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Yuliya Svitlychna the Governor of the Kharkiv Regional Administration inspected the demining areas and the condition of the implementation of the renovation works’, the message reports.
At the end of inspection Gennadiy Zubko, Mykola Chechotkin and Yulia Svitlychna accepted the report of completion for Balakliya and near communities cleanup operations from the ammunition.
‘For today all planned operations are done and we can confidently state that all territories which were contaminated by the explosive items are safe. I want to thank the staff of the Emergency Service for the invaluable effort of every rescuer, fireman and fire worker. They did great emergency response and returned peace and normal conditions of the life to this place’, Mykola Chechotkin said.
A blast on ammunition storage facility happened in Kharkiv region on March 23. The incident occurred near the city of Balakliya. A part of the city residents was evacuated. Residents of the nearby villages which fall into possible detonation zone were also evacuated. The Security Service of Ukraine qualified the incident as the diversion.
